Monster Eel From Kippax Pond July 20th 2006
Local angler Paul Parker landed an amazing 8lb 2oz eel (See Below) from Kippax Pond. Paul was targeting the resident carp and tench 30 yards out when the eel struck. Fishing the to the point of the island, Paul used a 2-1/4lb t/c rod, 12lb berkley big game line, 2oz inline lead and a 4" hybrid hook-link to a size 8 barbless fox wide gape hook with a small piece of cheese hair-rigged fished over 4mm pellet.
Paul said, “It took me the best part of 15 minutes to land it. When I got it on the unhooking mat I couldn’t believe the size of the thing. I put it in the weigh sling and it weighed exactly 4kg minus 12 oz for the dry sling, then measured it at 42" long, with a girth of 12".
